ZOI MAGAZINE September 2022 Issue: Efe Grace – Inspired By The Holy Ghost

Remember our last cruise? How we maidenly had ShoggyTosh on a groovy ride; how he happily took us through his journey as an Entrepreneur, Sport analyst and a lover of the Gospel?

On this note, we have another vibrant Kingdom lover and someone that’s inspired by The Holy Ghost.

Efe Grace, a Ghanaian sensational Gospel musical extraordinaire led us into her wonder-life. She got to tell us how she grew up in a music-loving family. Her Dad, being a musician, believed exposed her to the music.

She allowed ZOI MAGAZINE into the revelations of how she scales through ups and downs.

According to her, My Christian journey has been a great one. Full of ups and downs, trials, and lessons. But all of that has shaped me into who I am now. God allowed them so as to bring out the best in me, and that is what the world is seeing in my music ministry.

Tell us about Efe Grace.

My name is Efe Grace; I was born to the legendary gospel musician, Rev. Mensah Bonsu. I come from a family of five, consisting of my parents, my two sisters and myself. I am the eldest. I come from Asante Akyem Agogo in the Ashanti Region and I am a graduate of the Christian Service University with a BBA in Banking and Finance. My mission is to reach out to the lost and also to impact the lives of people through the songs God gives me.

What was it like growing up?

I grew up in a music-loving family. My Dad, being a musician I believe, exposed me to the music. He took me along as a backup vocalist anytime he had ministrations because he realized I had a strong passion for music. With that, I had experience and exposure at a very early age, which of course, has been of great help to me and my ministry. Growing up, for me, has been filled with music throughout.

At what point in your life did you know you were going to do music?

When I got into the University, that was when I knew I was going to do music.

What led to the switch from doing secular music to strictly gospel?

You know in life, we all face challenges one way or the other. I have had my own fair share of challenges, but in all I have always believed that the gospel is my calling and that I certainly do not have any option than to adhere to it.

There was a point I got to in my life that everything around me was falling apart. It wasn’t an easy time for me. One night, I was praying, crying and asking God why I had to go through all of that. Then I heard His voice speak to me, telling me to leave everything I’m doing in His hands and trust Him fully to take charge, and see if He won’t turn things around. It was after that encounter, that I switched to full-time ministry.

How has your Christian journey been and how has it affected your music?

My Christian journey has been a great one. Full of ups and downs, trials, and lessons. But all of that has shaped me into who I am now. God allowed them so as to bring out the best in me, and that is what the world is seeing in my music ministry.

Tell us about your collaborations with other artistes (secular and gospel)

That’d be when I used to back-up for secular artistes such as Becca, Efya, Kwabena Kwabena and a lot of them like that. I have also had the opportunity to work with Byron Cage, Juanita Bynum, Phil Thompson, Sonnie Badu, Ohemaa Mercy, Diana Antwi Hamilton, and Joe Mettle.

Why music over banking and finance?

Music is my Life; it’s my passion. I believe that I was made to worship God and no one else. Whether I like it or not, He gave me this voice to show forth His glory, to be a blessing to His kingdom and to save souls. I have no choice. I am an ambassador of the Heavens. I have so much love for God’s work and I just want to make positive impact in the lives of people with this gift.  The Almighty created me for this.

Music actually gives me that sense of purpose and accomplishment, over banking even though that’s what I studied.

Tell us about your milestones and victories in your music career/ministry.

The milestones and victories in my music ministry for me is that, Souls have been won, that people have encountered Jesus, that my music is making positive impact in the lives of people around the world

Which of your works would you say challenged/affected you the most?

Every work I have done has challenged me different ways.

What do you like to do in your leisure?

Asides singing or listening to music, I read a lot in my leisure time.

What would you like people who’d listen to or read this interview to learn from you?

Humble yourself, and the Lord will exalt you in due season.
